Why I Wish I Got My Microblading Sooner – Determine Whether Microblading Is For You!

Determine Whether Microblading Is For You! Do you possess naturally thin and sparse eyebrows, and have been spending (or wasting even?) a lot of your time on shaping your eyebrows with pencils or eyebrow mascara before going out? If that is the case, you may be considering getting your eyebrows microblade, but still a little unsure? Hesitate no more, we’re here to tell you everything you need to make a decision. The clue is YES. But let’s see why.

Everything You Need to Know About Microblading

What is Microblading?

To put it simply, microblading is a way to create a “permanent” brow shape that best fits your face. After getting microbladed, you can ignore your eyebrow powder or pencil or mascara for two to three years. Does it sound exciting? If we’re getting to the details, microblading is when the technician uses a tool with 10-12 needles to implant pigments on the epidermis layer of your skin. This will create tiny, hair-like strokes that look like your real, natural eyebrows. However, microblading is definitely not tattooing, because the pigments will only go to the surface of your skin. As a result, your microbladed eyebrows will fade over time, and you will need to do touch-ups.

How is microblading different from shading?

It is easy to confuse between microblading and shading. Let’s spend some time to differentiate those two things. They’re both basically ways to make your eyebrows appear fuller and thicker. However, microblading uses a group of tiny needles to put the pigments under your skin, while shading uses pin-like dot of pigmentation to achieve a powdered eyebrows look.In short, shading is like applying semipermanent makeup onto your eyebrows – it only last around 3 to 6 months, while microblading can last for 2-3 years!

Is microblading for me?

As said above, microblading seems to be the solution to the thin eyebrows, but that doesn’t mean you cannot get it if you have a thick one. Microblading is not about filling in the gap, it is actually about getting the best-fit shape for you. Let’s say, if you have naturally thick eyebrows but the eyebrow tails have gone… missing, then consider getting it microbladed! However, microblading is not recommended for pregnant women or someone with sensitive skin. If you have problems regarding your skin, you’d better ask for a doctor’s recommendation first.

What’s the steps in a microblading session?

Step 1: The technician will clean up the area, shape and draw your eyebrows to the desired shape with a pencil.

Step 2: Get it numbed! You clearly don’t want to feel the full effect of around 10 tiny needles scratching your skin. This may take up to 30 minutes.Step 3: The needling progress begins. The technician will use the needle to put the pigments onto your skin. You will still feel the needles, but it won’t be uncomfortable at all. And when it’s done? Say hello to your beautiful eyebrows!Step 4: After 2-3 weeks, you will need a touch-up session so that your eyebrows will stay longer, with an evenly-spread color. The process is not at all scary, is it? If you’re ready for sleek eyebrows, we’ve got the right technician to help you out. Book an appointment with us below.

Does microblading hurt?

Since your eyebrow area is numbed before the process, you will only feel a bit uncomfortable as there’s pressure and scratch from the needles, but not painful. One microblading session only lasts for around 1 hour (not including the numbing time) so it’s not at all a discomfort.

Will it ever fade?

As said above, getting microblading is not like getting a tattoo. Your eyebrows will fade over time – in the course of 2-3 years or so if you don’t do any touch-ups. The time really varies based on the skin type of each person. People with oily skins may see their eyebrows fade faster because oil makes it hard for pigments to adhere to the skins. And be noted that when you finish the first session, the color on your eyebrows will be much darker than the real color, and it will fade quickly within 2-3 days. It is absolutely normal. You may have to wait for around 1 week or so to see the final color. After that, if you see that the color is too light, you can always go for a touch-up.And don’t worry about discoloration or scars when it fades. All that happens is your eyebrows will be back to your natural state.

What should I do before getting microblading?

So you have come to the decision of getting your eyebrows the shape that they deserve. Good for you, but be sure to take care of these few things before you go to a studio. You have to understand that microblading isn’t for everyone, especially ones with health/skin issues. Ask for a doctor’s advice, and read the requirements provided by the technician carefully. Here are some basic requirements you should know:

  • You didn’t get any botox treatment 3-4 weeks before getting microbladed
  • You didn’t do chemical peels 3 months pre-treatment, because it will make your eyebrows color fades much more quickly
  • You don’t get facial sub-burnt on the day of getting microblading
  • You have to stop taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10 and ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure
  • You don’t have skin irritations near your eyebrows
  • You are not pregnant
  • You are not under 18
  • You don’t have transmittable blood diseases like HIV or Hepatitis

And there are some other medications that you are advised to avoid before getting microblading as it may lead to skin irritation. Please ask for doctors’ recommendations for the list of these medications. And when you have checked all these requirements and are ready for a microblading session, remember to book your appointment 3-4 months prior to any vacation, special events, etc. since your eyebrows take time to heal! You don’t achieve your dream eyebrows overnight. Some people take more than one session to get the eyebrows they really love. So don’t be too rushed on your appointment. However, don’t be afraid, as we always walk you through everything you need to check before a microblading session. Microblading aftercare

Congratulations, you now have finished your first microblading session. Now take note of these to make sure you achieve a healthy, long-lasting and beautiful set of eyebrows.

  • Avoid water in the treatment area. Wash your face carefully with a cloth and don’t let any makeup touch your eyebrows and the skin around them.
  • Flaking may happen a few days after the procedure. It’s a normal reaction of the skin – these flakes are just dry skins and superficial colors, but it may itch. However, don’t try pulling the flakes off, let them fall out on their own, or else you’re at the risk of irritating your skin and it may affect the color of your eyebrows.
  • Remember to apply your aftercare ointment onto the treatment skin
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning of any kind. It may lead to color change and premature fading
  • Avoid getting dust on your treatment areas. Cover your eyebrows carefully if you have to drive in open air vehicles, or do house cleaning.

And if you have any redness, swelling in your eyebrows or unusual discharge from the treatment area, or if you get a fever, go to a doctor or physician straight away.

Microblading is not considered as “high risk” as tattooing. However, you still have to look out for infection.Be aware that since facial treatment has recently become a booming industry, you have to research carefully before booking an appointment with any technician, since some of them may not have received the adequate training before. And make sure you go for a technician with a good reputation and have a sterile working environment. You may want to ask for their license as well. Be sure that the technician you choose can explain to you the whole process, with a carefully prepared list of do’s and don’ts pre and post-treatment. And you don’t have to look longer, at Luxurious Lash, we provide you just the right technicians to get you the eyebrows that you desire. We make sure to give you the consultation needed before you go into the procedure, so that you have enough information to decide whether you are in the best health state to receive microblading. And we will follow up with you to answer any concern or help out with anything post-treatment.
